Grants
RCORUA has two active grants. They are outlined below. We are grateful to these organizations for supporting OHV use in the Bitterroot Valley.
Montana Fish Wildlife & Parks, Trail Stewardship Program. This project is in the Mud Creek area and includes OHV Trails that loop with existing road systems on the West Fork Ranger District, Bitterroot National Forest.
Current status has been building 9 signs from steel posts that will be placed in the riding area and display map and riding information. Trapper Creek Job Corps did an excellent job with the welding and construction shops participating in the project! We have also started to clear existing old road segments to meet OHV standards. These roads were already approved in Travel Management. Once current litigation is resolved in the Mud Creek EA, we anticipate completing a parking area (existing location) with room to turn trailers around, and completing connectors for loops. We will continue with trail clearing in 2025.
Yamaha Motorsports. This project will involve maintenance on the Warm Springs Ridge Trail 103. The trail is currently used by motorcycles, horses, bicycles and hikers. There has been significant degradation to the trail in some locations. These areas will be brought back to Forest Service trail standards and the trail will be cleared in general. This work will be completed in 2025.
